ITP can affect your daily life, not just your platelets
"Sometimes you feel really tired and achy and it feels just so hard to get through it."
–Laura, a real patient with ITP
Fatigue is a big problem for people with ITP
In a survey of over 1500 people with ITP and 470 doctors who treat ITP, many patients reported severe fatigue.
people with ITP reported feeling fatigue when they were diagnosed
people with ITP said their fatigue was severe
But they may not mention it to their doctor
doctors said their patients mentioned fatigue at diagnosis
doctors said that their patients’ fatigue was severe
In the same survey, patients reported fatigue regardless of how high or low their platelet counts were

A closer look at brain fog and cerebral microbleeds
Along with visible signs like bruises, people with ITP can experience brain fog, also called cognitive impairment. People with ITP have also shown evidence of small bleeds in the brain called cerebral microbleeds (CMBs).
Brain fog
In a 2022 study of 69 people with ITP, 50% experienced brain fog, including problems with:
- Memory
- Concentration
- Thinking clearly
Cerebral microbleeds
In a 2020 study of 49 people with ITP who underwent brain MRIs, 43% had cerebral microbleeds, or CMBs. CMBs were more likely in people who:
- Had ITP for a longer time
- Had lower platelet counts
MRI=magnetic resonance imaging.
